PESFASA’s business is focused on cephalopods: octopus, squid, Pacific squid tentacle (rejo), and cuttlefish. The specialization has led the firm to become one of the main companies in Spain in the purchase, processing, and wholesale marketing of cephalopods and especially octopus.
It is the main product marketed by PESFASA, and fundamentally of the common type (Vulgaris), a species that is typically found in the Mediterranean and the Eastern Atlantic (FAO 34).
PESFASA commercializes whole squid directly to wholesalers in the hospitality business, the same way it markets the rest of its range of products.
The Pacific giant squid tentacles (rejo) is the third type of cephalopod that is part of the company’s production.
Cuttlefish is also a relevant product at PESFASA; it is sold in various formats (whole or sliced).
PESFASA sells anchovies packed in shrink-wrapped trays with polyolefin film or in bulk boxes.
Octopus is the main product of the production marketed by PESFASA. We sell both the common type
(vulgaris), a species found mainly in the Mediterranean and the Eastern Atlantic, and the so-called
red octopus (Octopus maya), caught on the coast from the Yucatan peninsula.
With hardly any fat and containing nine vitamins: calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, zinc, copper, manganese and selenium, octopus is one of the most protein rich and healthy foods there is. This, together with its flavour and easy preparation, makes it one of the jewels of gastronomy.
Squid is another healthy product being low in calories and fat, very nutritious and a great source of protein.
